Celebrating the Cuisine of Santa Cruz

I was brought onto the team to create an engaging design for their new website, highlighting their products and information about the company. I was also appointed creative freedom, which allowed me to dive deep into their brand and extract the visual elements I thought accurately represented the brand.

The principal purpose of the logo is to call attention, to identify the brand and give an edge amongst the competition. I created a clear and refined brand identity that represents the company's name and gives a subtle nod to its location in Santa Cruz, California with the wave.

The design language was built around consistent and refined typography, a generous use of stellar photography and accents of deep blue, coastal blue and sandy gray; all giving a sense of their location - the coast. This gave the company a way to define visually what the business symbolizes and helped them stand above the bustling atmosphere of other dining and restaurant services.

Launching a Refined Culinary Experience

In the course of approximately four weeks I designed all the materials for the brand and then worked closely with the culinary and operations team to make sure that its final form looked as intended.

The website is the major selling point, as in these unprecedented times of a global pandemic, digital marketing efforts must represent an extension of the brands service to potential customers. The goal was to make the website the only touch point a customer would need to make a choice about the service and hire the company.

After the project went live, I've stayed close with the team and continually lend my hand in design strategy and content deployment. From the initial scope, I delivered the following items:

  • A brand guidelines and visual style guide for reference
  • Stationery materials to pass out such as business cards, menu designs, letterheads and face mask designs
  • A fully responsive website, ready to collect user information and serve the community.
